An inspiring initiative aimed at empowering youth with essential digital skills has been launched, fostering personal and professional development opportunities for young people across Europe. This ambitious project seeks to address the digital skills disparity prevalent in various regions, with focus on AI and digital marketing competencies.
According to the 2022 Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI), significant skill gaps exist in the digital landscape, especially in countries like Bulgaria and Romania, which rank 26th and 27th respectively out of the 27 EU countries. In Bulgaria, a mere 8% of individuals possess skills above the basic digital level, starkly contrasting with the EU average of 26%. Conversely, Malta and Spain are at the forefront of digital advancement, ranking 6th and 7th respectively, demonstrating impressive strides in digital technology integration and public services.
Recognizing these disparities, the new project aims to bridge the digital divide by providing youth, including those with fewer opportunities, with comprehensive training in digital marketing.
Curriculum
Within the project a curriculum will be developed to address the core needs of youth in the digital marketing sphere, focusing on four key themes:
Research and training activities
As part of the project, a comprehensive research activity will be conducted to identify and analyze best practices and tools in digital marketing, with a particular focus on AI integration. This research will culminate in the development of a Virtual/Digital Handbook, serving as a valuable resource for both youth workers and young individuals.
Training sessions will be organized to equip youth workers with the necessary skills to mentor and guide young people effectively. Additionally, targeted training for youth will be provided to ensure they can use new technologies and capitalize on the opportunities presented by AI and digital marketing.
The project aligns with the missions of the participating organizations, which are dedicated to youth development, digital skills development, innovation, and social impact. By addressing the skill gaps and promoting digital and entrepreneurial competence, the project aims to create a more inclusive and skilled digital workforce.
By fostering digital literacy and empowering youth with cutting-edge skills, the project not only enhances employability but also contributes to the broader goal of digital equality across Europe.
